Hey! I Don't Want To Share!
Today it wasn't horrible in the shade, so I decided to get some salmon sushi from Twinnie's and eat it outside.
I barely got the package open before I had company. A yellow jacket, only the second one I've seen this year, decided to join me. It lit on my sushi and I got out my camera. Forgive me for the quality of the photo, but I didn't want to get as close as I often do. It was literally gnawing on the raw salmon, which I found somewhat astonishing. I imagined it would just slurp up the liquids. When I watched a spider drinking from a drop of water in my kitchen, I found it endearing, but somehow I didn't have the same reaction in this case.
Eventually, it must have gotten full and left. I quickly put the lid on the box and took it back inside to eat it. Here you can actually see the gap in the salmon, where it was eating. I'm afraid that I couldn't bring myself to eat that particular piece. It didn't seem rational at all, but then I suppose that I'm not always rational.
Are there people who are rational around yellow jackets?
