3 Column Layout

I finally added a third column to the blog's layout template. It seems to look okay in both Firefox and IE, but it must not be quite right, because the Blogger tool for adding Page Elements doesn't seem to like it at all. You can still add elements and, but elements in the new right column produce these weird gray bars across the window, making it hard to see the elements in the left column. As long as it continues to work ok, I won't worry about it too much. It's fun working on this stuff, because I still haven't taken the time to figure out what I'm doing. I used a little bit of code from a Blogcrowds template, but quickly realized that it had all kinds of things that I didn't want. Fortunately, what little I selected and tinkered with seemed to mostly do the trick.

Upgraded to Blogger Beta

It was a nice day, my house was all clean and I could have done anything I wanted. I chose to spend all day upgrading to the new Blogger Beta. It was easy to move it, but not so easy to convert my old customizations to something with which I was happy. The good thing is that there are several new features, it's easier to add new stuff and I think my photos within my posts are formatted nicely now.

It's fixed!

Those of you who are regular readers will know that I've had this annoying chunk of whitespace before my posts and will remember all the times you've had to scroll down past my archives. I fixed it! I finally took the time to thoroughly go over the template and discovered that it needed another closing div tag below the blogger tag. Other than the my blogger template, I basically have had no experience with css, so it was very exciting to figure it out. Actually, if someone else had figured it out, it would have been quite exciting too, because all that whitespace was really annoying.
