Go outside tonight and look for the moon. As always, it's very pretty by itself, but Mars is right next to it, so it's even more amazing.

I happened to notice the moon last night and saw the "star," and wondered if it was something special. How neat!
ReplyDeleteIf you were a little further north, you might have been able to see the moon actually occult Mars.
ReplyDeleteSpace.com is a great site for knowing what's going on in the sky. Despite our urbanity, Durham is a pretty decent place to see stars and planets. I've spotted numerous apparitions of Mercury here. Including that time a few years back when 4 planets were in the Western sky at sunset, and Mars was rising in the east at the same time.
